Gorou Natsume is the doctor responsible for Rika's care. He previously treated her at another hospital, and when he was transferred to Yūichi's town, Rika moved hospitals so he could remain her physician.
Story spoilers
Natsume has feelings for Rika and interferes with her developing relationship with Yūichi. His behavior is tied to his own experience of losing his wife to a condition similar to Rika's, and he may want to spare Yūichi the same kind of loss.
