Biography
Gajira Norimaki, or Gatchan, is a green-haired, winged, cherub-like creature hatched from an egg Senbei brings home from a time-traveling trip. Gatchan eats almost anything except rubber, especially metal, can fire rays from the antennae, and speaks in a distinctive language that Arale appears able to understand.
Story spoilers
Gatchan later replicates into twins. Volume 17 reveals that Gatchan is actually an angel sent by God to keep human civilization from developing too far, with the ability to multiply and consume metal intended to help keep humanity primitive.
