Faron Bastien do Charles is the King of Brune, initially known as a just and benevolent ruler.
Story spoilers
The apparent death of his daughter, Princess Regin, breaks him emotionally as illness weakens his body and leaves Ganelon and Thenardier unchecked. He is later revealed to have been poisoned by Ganelon’s minions. After the civil war, Faron reunites with Regin and recognizes her as his heir before dying, and with his final breath grants Tigre the ancient title Knight of the Moonlight.
