Story spoilers
Erika originally invites the shy Hiura into judo and teaches her, but later loses to the maturing Hiura and spends the rest of junior high as an alternate. Proud and somewhat overbearing yet caring toward younger teammates, Erika's guidance helps Hiura reach national level. The two later meet again as opponents in the inter-high team preliminaries, reconcile after their match, and become good friends and rivals.
