Edmond Honda

Edmond Honda is a prominent fighter in the latter half of the anime, where his goal is earning money rather than proving sumo's strength to the world. He first appears wrestling Dhalsim in Calcutta for prize money and wins by forfeit after Ryu's presence distracts his opponent. Grateful for Ryu's indirect help and recognizing him as a fellow Japanese fighter, Honda shares half the prize and offers him a place to stay.
