Story spoilers
Drosselmeyer died before completing his masterpiece, The Prince and the Raven, leaving its title characters trapped in an endless battle. Even after death, he can influence the story from beyond the grave and takes pleasure in directing its characters toward tragic roles as long as the result remains entertaining.
