Story spoilers
At sixteen, Dias was nearing the title of 58th Sevalle when his parents died from a rare disease and his younger sister Elle became ill. He abandoned that ambition to work as a mercenary and pay for her medicine, saving her but weakening his own body enough that he gave up pursuing the title. Kain Phalanx became the 58th Sevalle, and Elle later rose as the 59th.
