Damos once sees Arceus badly injured after saving the world from meteors and returns the Plates that Arceus lost. In gratitude, Arceus lends him the Jewel of Life, formed from five Plates, so the barren Michina Town can be restored.
Story spoilers
Damos promises to return the Jewel at the next solar eclipse, but Marcus later manipulates events and uses Bronzong's Hypnosis to control him during the apparent betrayal of Arceus. When Ash, Dawn, Brock, and Sheena travel into the past, Damos learns what is happening, escapes imprisonment, helps stop the Pokémon attacking Arceus, and calms Arceus by connecting with it.
