Chiaki Matsushita is a Class 2-D student with a quiet, older-sister-like demeanor. She is generally kind to both boys and girls but does not actively seek out friendships.
Story spoilers
Chiaki initially sees little hope of Class D reaching Class A and deliberately coasts through school despite believing she could rank near the top of her class. Later in the light novels, as the class improves, she becomes willing to contribute and demonstrates strong mental-arithmetic ability. She later pays closer attention to Kiyotaka and concludes that Class D could rise if both of them used their full abilities.
