Biography
Casshern is a neo-human created to oppose Black King after the machine activates on its own and sets out to conquer the world. Friender is a robotic dog revived by scientist Kotaro Azuma.
Story spoilers
Casshern began life as Tetsuya Azuma, the son of Kotaro and Midori Azuma. Tetsuya volunteers for the transformation despite his parents' objections. In the 1993/1995 OVA remake, Black King kills both Kotaro and Midori.
