Alois Trancy is the 14-year-old head of the Trancy household, addressed as “Your Highness” by his butler Claude and maid Hannah. His emotions are unpredictable, and he is intensely attached to Claude, frequently demanding his attention. Alois appears easily angered, quickly loses interest in things, and often speaks harshly. His contract mark is on his tongue and only becomes visible when Claude is nearby.
Story spoilers
Alois is actually Jim Macken, an orphan who once lived in a village with his younger brother Luka. After a fire kills most of the villagers, including Luka, Jim eventually assumes the identity of Alois Trancy after Earl Trancy dies. Unaware that Hannah killed Luka, Alois accepts Claude's claim that Sebastian Michaelis was responsible for the village deaths and forms a contract with Claude to make Sebastian suffer by taking Ciel away from him.
