Akito Hayama is a quiet, reserved 11-year-old who keeps others at a distance and leads a group of school bullies. He struggles to express his feelings and often reacts to personal problems with anger.
Story spoilers
His family blames him for his mother's death, which he did not cause. Sana's arrival leads him to become kinder and stop bullying the girls in his class. He develops feelings for Sana but struggles to express them. He dates Fuuka before admitting that he has always loved Sana. In the later manga Deep Clear, Akito and Sana are married and have a child.
