Akira Hattori is a calm, calculating Weekly Shōnen Jump editor who works with Akito Takagi and Moritaka Mashiro. He helps them with their manga “names” and remains interested in their growth as manga creators, offering advice when he can.

Hattori helps Takagi and Mashiro achieve serialization with Detective Trap, but conflicting responsibilities later require him to hand them over to Miura.
