Sentenced to Be a Hero

Sentenced to Be a Hero takes place in a world where heroism is imposed as criminal punishment. Xylo Forbartz, condemned for killing a goddess, serves in Penal Hero Unit 9004 and is forced into endless battles against monstrous enemies. Even death offers no release because fallen heroes are resurrected and sent back to fight again. Xylo's encounter with a mysterious new goddess creates an unexpected alliance that may offer a way to resist the cycle of eternal punishment.
