Scum's Wish

Hanabi Yasuraoka has loved her older friend Narumi for years, only to find herself in an increasingly painful situation when he becomes her homeroom teacher and is clearly attracted to music teacher Akane. She then discovers that fellow student Mugi Awaya is in love with Akane as well. Both teenagers are therefore attached to people who do not return their feelings. Rather than pretending those emotions have disappeared, Hanabi and Mugi begin using a relationship with each other as a substitute for the people they actually want, creating an arrangement built on unrequited affection, physical intimacy, and convenience rather than mutual romantic love.
