Perfect Blue

Mima Kirigoe leaves her rising career as a pop singer behind to pursue acting and modeling, but not everyone is willing to accept the change. Encouraged by her managers, she takes a recurring role on a popular television series while some of her former fans remain fixated on the performer she used to be.

Her career transition grows increasingly disturbing when people around her begin to be murdered. At the same time, Mima is plagued by guilt and visions of her former idol self, making it harder for her to separate what is actually happening from what she imagines. As an obsessive stalker closes in both online and in person, the boundaries between public image, private identity, reality, and performance become dangerously unstable.
