After reviving his school's volleyball club, Hinata reaches a tournament only to be crushed in his first match by Tobio Kageyama, the feared "King of the Court." Determined to surpass him, Hinata later joins Karasuno High School's volleyball team and discovers that Kageyama is now his teammate. Hinata's jumping ability and Kageyama's own strengths are not enough on their own; the former rivals must learn to cooperate if they want to find their places on the team and help Karasuno succeed.
