DARLING in the FRANXX

In a distant future where ruined wastelands surround mobile fortress cities called Plantations, children are raised in isolated pilot quarters known as Mistilteinn, or the Birdcage. Their purpose is narrowly defined: pilot machines called FRANXX and fight the enormous organisms known as Kyoryu. Hiro, Code 016, was once regarded as a child prodigy among the pilots. His circumstances change when he encounters the mysterious Zero Two. Her sudden appearance and declaration that she has found her “Darling” begin a new chapter for Hiro within a society built around children whose lives revolve almost entirely around combat.
