Does Nacht Die in Black Clover?
Nacht does not die in Black Clover. See how he survives Lilith and Nahamah, Lucifero's brutal attack, and his later confrontation with Paladin Morgen.

No, Nacht Faust does not die in Black Clover. The Black Bulls' shadow-magic specialist survives his fight with Lilith and Nahamah, a nearly fatal injury inflicted by Lucifero, and his later confrontation with Paladin Morgen. His willingness to sacrifice himself is genuine, but the manga repeatedly distinguishes that intention from an actual death.
Manga spoilers follow for the Spade Kingdom raid and Paladin Morgen's confrontation with the Black Bulls.
Why Nacht Seems Ready to Die
Nacht is introduced as the Black Bulls' elusive vice-captain, a devil host who has spent years infiltrating the Spade Kingdom. His ability to move through shadows makes him an exceptional spy, while his contracts with four devils allow him to use different Devil Union forms. He has the skills to escape danger, yet often chooses to stay when other people need protecting.
That determination is tied to guilt. Before becoming a Magic Knight, Nacht recklessly attempted to summon Lucifugus, a powerful devil his family had studied. The ritual went wrong, and his twin brother Morgen died stopping it. Nacht survived and blamed himself for Morgen's death.
Lucifugus is not Lucifero, the devil Nacht fights much later. The similar names can make two separate tragedies sound like the same event. For the full story behind Morgen's death, see what happened to Nacht's brother.
This backstory helps explain why Nacht often treats his own safety as expendable. He believes people who do wrong should be held accountable, and he applies that judgment most harshly to himself. But his guilt does not mean the story actually kills him.
Does Nacht Die Against Lilith and Nahamah?
Nacht's first major apparent death scene comes during the raid on the Spade Kingdom. Lilith and Nahamah, two powerful devils released as the underworld's gates open, can use devastating ice and fire magic. Nacht knows they cannot be allowed to roam freely while the other Magic Knights confront the Dark Triad.
He draws the pair away and uses his Shadow Magic to keep them occupied. His Dark Prison Hunting Ground creates an environment suited to his movements, but the devils are so powerful that even avoiding their attacks becomes a struggle. They regard their battle with him as entertainment.
In Chapter 287, Nacht tries a more desperate move: Monument of Atonement. By combining the abilities of his contracted devils, he attempts to imprison Lilith and Nahamah with himself in a shadow world. He is willing to be trapped there indefinitely if that keeps them from hurting anyone else.
It does not work. The devils break free, badly injure him, and restrain him with their magic. For a moment, Nacht genuinely appears to be at the end of his life.
Then Asta arrives in Devil Union with Liebe. He interrupts the attack, and in Chapter 288 he frees Nacht from the restraints. The fight continues, with Lilith and Nahamah eventually fusing together. Nacht still plays an important part: in Chapter 290, he emerges from their shadow and holds them just long enough for Asta to land the decisive blow.
Asta and Liebe are the ones who defeat the fused devils; Nacht's intervention makes the opening possible. You can follow that distinction in who defeats Lilith and Nahamah. Chapter 291 then shows Nacht safely alongside Asta. His proposed self-sacrifice was an attempt, not a death.

Does Lucifero Kill Nacht?
Lucifero comes much closer to killing Nacht. During the battle against the devil, Nacht coordinates his Shadow Magic with Yami Sukehiro and Yuno's Star Magic, trying to create an opening for Asta. Their teamwork matters because Lucifero is vastly stronger than the Magic Knights facing him.
In Chapter 326, Nacht and Yami attack together from a shadow behind Lucifero. He counters by turning his upper wings into arms and driving them through both men's torsos. The damage is severe, and the two are left in critical condition.
Asta and Liebe's strengthened Devil Union lets them sever Lucifero's arms in Chapter 327. That stops the immediate attack, but it does not magically repair the injuries. Nacht and Yami are still able to assist in the final struggle, yet after Lucifero is defeated, both collapse.
The resolution comes in Chapter 330. Yuno brings Mimosa Vermillion to the injured men, but she has exhausted her magic and cannot heal them. Others nearby are also unable to treat wounds that serious. It looks as though both Black Bulls might die despite the victory.
Charmy changes the situation by feeding Mimosa food made with her magic, replenishing Mimosa's power. Mimosa then uses her healing spell Flower Princess Utopia, saving Nacht and Yami.
That is a rescue from life-threatening injuries, not a resurrection after confirmed deaths. Neither man is killed in this scene. The parallel experience is important to whether Yami dies in Black Clover, too.
Once he recovers, Nacht receives something he has resisted for a long time: genuine acceptance from the Black Bulls. Instead of insisting that his life is worth less than theirs, he expresses a desire to live alongside them.

Does Paladin Morgen Kill Nacht Later?
Nacht faces an even more personal danger when Lucius Zogratis brings Morgen back as a Paladin. This resurrected version of his brother possesses Light Magic and the Dark Magic of Lucifugus, linking the confrontation directly to Nacht's oldest regret.
After Morgen grievously wounds Yami, Nacht and Ichika arrive to help. Nacht confronts Morgen and a Lucius copy while Ichika assists Yami. In Chapter 375, Nacht struggles to strike down the brother he once lost. Morgen gains the upper hand and nearly finishes him, but Yami intervenes.
In Chapter 376, Yami, Ichika, and Nacht combine their abilities. Nacht uses a form that draws on all four of his contracted devils, and their coordinated attack lets him land a decisive strike on Morgen.
Nacht survives this confrontation as well. His hesitation nearly costs him his life, but the story does not turn his grief into another death.
Why Nacht's Survival Matters
Nacht's character arc is not about becoming impossible to kill. He is repeatedly injured, overwhelmed, and saved by people who refuse to give up on him. His four devils provide unusual flexibility, but their powers do not make him immortal.
The important change is in how he understands responsibility. At first, his guilt over Morgen makes self-sacrifice seem like the only way to atone. He is prepared to disappear into a prison of shadows because, to him, his own future barely matters.
Asta challenges that thinking by choosing to rescue him even when Nacht says he is unimportant. Later, Mimosa's healing and the Black Bulls' welcome give him another reason to live. Facing Morgen again forces him to confront the past without surrendering his future to it.
That is the emotional heart of Nacht's survival: he can protect others, acknowledge his mistakes, and continue living. Nacht does not die in these battles, and the manga continues to show him alive afterward. His closest calls matter precisely because he gets the chance to move beyond them.
